Premise[]

At Maddy's birthday party, relationships are celebrated and questioned. Meanwhile, Jules turns to Elliot for advice and Cal takes a trip down memory lane.

Plot[]

Jules performs oral sex on Rue, who is so high that she's unable to feel anything. Rue poorly fakes an orgasm to prevent Jules from feeling bad. Jules confides to Elliot about the encounter and after teasing each other, make out. The two are interrupted by a phone call and a shocked Jules stares at the ceiling.

Maddy and Nate spend the night together and they discuss their relationship. Maddy asks Nate if he felt loved by her, to which Nate says that he doesn't know. Maddy begins to cry and the two embrace.

Cassie and Nate argue about Nate's rekindled relationship with Maddy. Cassie blames Nate for not telling her that he was planning to get back with Maddy, but Nate rebuffs Cassie by saying that they would've hooked up anyway. Cassie tells Nate that she wants to prevent Maddy and Nate from getting back together. Nate accuses Cassie of blackmailing him into a relationship. Nate screams at Cassie, prompting her to leave. Nate tries to stop Cassie from leaving by saying that he loves her, but she leaves anyway.

Nate prepares to leave for Maddy's birthday party and encounters a drunk Cal downstairs. Cal removes the tarp off his white Jeep and drives recklessly to the gay bar where he and Derek shared their first kiss decades ago. Cal plays the same song he and Derek danced to and dances with another man. Drunk, he imagines his partner to be Derek, saying that he thought he lost him years ago. A drunk Cal gets banned from the bar and drives back home. In a drunken stupor, Cal argues with Marsha, Nate, and Aaron. Cal admits that he had been having sexual encounters with men. Cal tells Nate that he is his biggest regret in life. Cal takes their family photo off the wall and leaves the house.

Rue, Jules, and Elliot dance together in his room and Rue excuses herself to the restroom. Jules tells Elliot that she believes that Rue has a crush on him. Rue kisses Elliot as part of a dare and Jules dares Elliot to kiss her body. The trio arrive at a liquor store and steal several cases of alcohol. Jules is displeased at seeing Rue drink alcohol. Rue tells Jules that she can't stand her and asks to be dropped off home. Rue is dropped off in the middle of the road and walks home. Once home, she takes several pills and alcohol. Later that night, Elliot admits to Jules that Rue had been using opiates the entire time.

Rue begins to hallucinate being at her own funeral. She hugs the singer, who turns into father. Rue expresses regret for how her life turned out. Her father comforts her, saying that he will always be with her.

At Maddy's birthday party, Kat admits to Maddy that she isn't in love with Ethan. Maddy comforts her by saying that she shouldn't feel like she needs to stay with Ethan.
