Samuel Levinson is an American actor and filmmaker. He is the creator, writer, director, and executive producer of Euphoria. He is also known for writing and directing the films, Another Happy Day and Assassination Nation.

Biography

He made his film debut in the 1992 film Toys, along with his brother Jack. He later appeared in such films as Bandits and What Just Happened? as "Carl". In 2009, he co-starred as Peter Thompson in Stoic. He also studied method acting for four years.

In 2011, he made his directorial debut with the black comedy-drama Another Happy Day, which earned him the "Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award at the Sundance Festival.

In 2017, he co-wrote the television film The Wizard of Lies which was directed by his father Barry Levinson.

Then in 2018, he wrote and directed the black comedy thriller Assassination Nation. It premiered at the 2018 Sundance Festival to mixed reviews from critics.

In 2019, Levinson created the HBO teen drama series Euphoria, based on the Israeli series of the same name. The series has received critical acclaim for it's writing, direction, and acting.

In 2020, Levinson wrote and directed the film Malcolm & Marie starring John David Washington and Zendaya (who is also the lead star of his series "Euphoria") in the middle of the COVID pandemic. The film was released on Netflix on February 5, 2021.
