Biography[]
Melvin "Bonez" Estes, a lifelong Dundalk resident and former drug addict, has released his first book called “The Cross and The Crescent.” After graduating from Sparrows Point High School, Estes started to go down a bad path. Estes states he was into everything — drugs, gang-banging, selling drugs and in and out of jail.
Although Estes struggled with drug addiction, he had an interest in mythical subjects and vampire stories. He took a class in religious studies. When Estes came back to Dundalk after serving time in jail, he met, he recalled, “a very beautiful woman” and they dated for almost ten years. During their time together, Estes and his girlfriend would often watch vampire shows and one day his girlfriend suggested that he come up with a story about vampires. Feeling intrigued by her suggestion, Estes started to write.
He stated that he started doing research and started brainstorming all these ideas and that it was a form of therapy, as he would stay up to 3 a.m, just writing.[2]
